Surabaya - City of Heroes

Surabaya, the capital of East Java, is Indonesia’s second-largest city and a vital economic hub. Known as the "City of Heroes," it played a significant role in Indonesia’s independence struggle, particularly during the Battle of Surabaya in 1945. The city boasts a dynamic blend of modern infrastructure and historical sites, making it a center for commerce, education, and tourism. Surabaya is home to the Tugu Pahlawan (Heroes Monument), a towering landmark commemorating the sacrifices of Indonesian fighters. Additionally, the Sura and Baya Statue, depicting a shark and crocodile, symbolizes the city's name and legendary origins.


The Suramadu Bridge, Indonesia’s longest bridge, connects Surabaya to Madura, facilitating economic and cultural exchanges. 


With its thriving business districts, vibrant culinary scene, and rich historical significance, Surabaya remains a key player in Indonesia’s development.


Malang - Paris of East Java

Malang is a picturesque city in East Java, renowned for its cool climate, colonial architecture, and educational institutions. Historically, Malang was a favored retreat during the Dutch colonial era, evident in its well-preserved heritage buildings. The city is a gateway to Mount Bromo, one of Indonesia’s most famous volcanic attractions. Malang’s Tugu Malang, a monument surrounded by a lotus pond, serves as a central landmark and a symbol of the city’s resilience.


The Jodipan Colorful Village, a vibrant neighborhood painted in striking hues, showcases the city’s commitment to urban revitalization and tourism.


Malang is also known for its thriving arts and cultural scene, with numerous museums and traditional performances enriching its identity. As a center for education and tourism, Malang continues to attract students, researchers, and travelers seeking both knowledge and natural beauty.


Jember - City of Carnivals

Jember is a dynamic city in East Java, recognized for its agricultural prominence and cultural vibrancy. It is one of Indonesia’s leading tobacco-producing regions, earning the nickname "Kota Tembakau" (Tobacco City). The city is also famous for the Jember Fashion Carnival (JFC), an internationally acclaimed annual event showcasing elaborate costumes and creative performances.


Jember’s diverse cultural heritage is reflected in its Pandalungan identity, a blend of Javanese and Madurese traditions. The city’s historical landmarks include the Masjid Jami' Al Baitul Amien, an iconic mosque with a distinctive green dome. In addition, Jember’s proximity to stunning natural attractions, such as Papuma Beach and Tancak Waterfall, further enhances its appeal. 


With its strong agricultural base, vibrant cultural scene, and growing tourism sector, Jember continues to be a significant contributor to East Java’s economy and identity.


Madura - Island of Salt

Madura, an island off the northeastern coast of Java, is known for its rich cultural heritage and resilient communities. The island is divided into four regencies: Bangkalan, Sampang, Pamekasan, and Sumenep, each with distinct traditions and historical significance.


Madura is famous for its Karapan Sapi, a traditional bull racing event that attracts visitors from across Indonesia. The Suramadu Bridge, connecting Madura to Surabaya, has significantly boosted economic development and accessibility. Sumenep, one of Madura’s key cities, is home to the Keraton Sumenep, a historical palace showcasing Madura’s royal legacy. The island’s coastal beauty is exemplified by Pantai Slopeng, a pristine beach with white sands and clear waters.
